Six more books!

My ultra-spiffy publisher, Del Rey, has signed me up to write six more books, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Many thanks to all my readers for their support; you’re the reason I get to keep writing.

Three of the books will finish off the Iron Druid Chronicles as I’ve always planned (books 7-9) and the other three will be a bit epic.

Also included in this deal is another IDC novella called THE GRIMOIRE OF THE LAMB, which is finished and will be released in the US/Canada and the UK and affiliated territories as an e-book original in 2013. It’s set four years before the events of HOUNDED so there’s no Granuaile, but we get plenty of Atticus and Oberon as they get lured to Egypt by a priest of the crocodile god, Sobek!

Random House Audio Publishing Group will continue to produce audio for the US/Canadian market and Luke Daniels is the man, never fear. Release dates for audio are always the same day as the publishing date.

I don’t have publishing dates for the books yet—I have yet to write them and I need to finish my Star Wars novel before I can get busy with these. However, I can now tell you the title of the seventh Iron Druid book: SHATTERED.

Oh yeah: These will all be hardcover. (Eeep!)

I’ve been informed that TRAPPED will also be making an appearance on the New York Times bestseller list, so a gazillion thank-yous for that as well, and for the very kind words that some of you have sent me.

May harmony and an excellent beer find you. :) Cheers!

    CONGRATS!!!!!

  2. Mandi says:

I am thrilled that there will be more books coming, although I am not as thrilled that they will first be Hardback before they go back to paperback. That was one of the things I loved most about your books, that we didn’t have to wait a year just to get paper back. Especially sense all the rest of the books are in paperback.

  3. Novisha says:

You are the dearest and sweetest man. Thank you. And what ever may happen in the future between now and the last book, Stay away from Banana bread beer and soy bacon.
(its a plot by the Sumerians and Marduk to kill you off. shhhh)

  4. Yolanda (Mickey) says:

I’m so stoked! Can’t wait to read more of your works, just finished Trapped and the story line is so original in comparison to anything I’ve ever read. I enjoy a reading experience tremendously especially when it’s completely off the beaten path! Merry Christmas! ♥♥♥

  5. Dan says:

Congrats…Look forward to the new books weather on Hardbound or paperback or like I buy on digital. On my statement that Oberon needs a girlfriend you must remember that French Poodles are the same as women-of-ill-repute.. That’s why beauty parlors that cater to street walkers are called “Poodle Parlors”. He needs the doggie equivalent of Granuaile to have a nice litter of puppies with…(his own Bow chicka Bow wow )

  6. Amalia T. says:

    Congratulations!!! This is FANTASTIC news!!!

  7. Sue says:

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I am so excited for you and can’t wait to find out what happens to the characters I have come to love. I can’t wait to see what else is coming down the road once you finish this series. Gotta have a plan. I already know what I am going to write when I finish my trilogy.

  8. Brenda says:

Congrats on more books! More books is awesome!

I’m not so thrilled about the new books being in hardcover though. THEY WON’T MATCH THE REST! Unless of course they re-release the first six in hardcover, then I will purchase them again. They must match!

  9. Traci says:

SQUEE! Congrats on the additional books! That’s wonderful news! But…*gasp*…the end to the IDC? I’ll keep telling myself it’s not over yet and I’m sure I’ll whatever comes afterwards just as much.

  10. Kristin says:

    Squeeeeeee!!!!

    That is all :-D

  11. Sheri says:

    Congratulations and SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  12. Mark says:

Iron Druid Chronicles is one of my favorite series, this is awesome news. Also, I’m VERY glad to hear you’ve secured Luke Daniels for the audiobook. He does a fantastic job, and is one of the best. Wouldn’t be the same having anyone else voice Oberon. There are few books I’ve read that can make me laugh out loud once; yours do it time and time again. Oberon is the best! Keep up the great work.

  13. Vicki Wilson says:

    OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!Squee!!!!

  14. Nina says:

  15. Nys says:

Oh! An epic! You must be so excited that you get to publish an epic. I love IDC but love, love, love epics. I’m really excited to see what you can do with that format!

  16. LeisureSuitLarry says:

One the one hand… Yaaaayyyyy! The more books we can get out of you, the happier I’ll be. Atticus is Dresden-level awesome. But, on the other hand… Nooooooooooooooooo!!!! only 3 more Iron Druid books?! That really hurts. I would like to see many more than just 3.

  17. KarenS says:

This is great news… Although I don’t want to see the Iron Druid series end. Do you have any idea’s as to what else we can expect from you?

    • Kevin Hearne says:

Why, yes, I do have some ideas. :) The epics, for one! And there will be stories/novellas as I can squeeze them in. I’ll always promote stuff here and on social media, never fear…it’s part of the job these days!

      • KarenS says:

You replied! I’m speechless! Wait, I’m female this isn’t supposed to happen!

Seriously, I’m looking forward to reading more from you. Er I mean listen… Audible is my friend, when I play Guild Wars or WoW… =)

        Take care

  18. Dave Dickens says:

Very cool, Kevin. Conratulations! I am very pleased for both you and us.

  19. Aric says:

Please tell us that your books will be released as paperbacks at the same time as the hardbacks are released and not 6 months later. Let people who enjoy paperbacks read them at the same time as the hardback readers do !

  20. Steven MacNeil says:

Very good news! Have you considered a three-part prequel series on Atticus’ early years?

  21. veecat says:

You are the last person who still calls things “spiffy.”. Godspeed, Kevin Hearne.

  22. Terry says:

Congratz! You so deserve! Awesome writing, loved every book so far. Just wish the stories would go on forever!! BTW, the early years is a great idea! Hardcover – too expensive (sorry) and hard to carry around with all my other cr@p. Thank you for sharing your imagination!

  23. Kayla Beck says:

YAY!!! All kinds of awesome new there! Congratulations on the NY Times fantasticness, the new three books, AND hardcovers (whoop whoop)! I am so, so, so happy for you, sir. :-D

  27. Ed Bunyan says:

YOU DA MAN!!!!! Congratulations. I am so looking forward to your future work. May Harmony always find you and the writing muse never leave you.

  28. Alexia561 says:

Huzzah! So excited for more Oberon! And agree with Dan that Oberon needs a nice girl to settle down with, not a slutty poodle!

  29. Janie says:

Sweet!!! Congratulations Kevin. This is great news for a whole group of us who are Iron Druid fans. We love your writing. We love Oberon and Atticus.

  30. Jacki says:

That’s fantastic news!!! And about Trapped hitting the NYT Best Seller list. You definitely deserve it. I believe harmony has definitely found you. Live long and continue writing!!!

  34. Alexandre Dubé-Pakenham says:

    Hey !
I just added those 3 new books and the novella to Goodreads !
    This is great news !
I love your work. You have to thank Patrick Rothfuss for that…I’ve been following his blog for many years, and when he talked about your books (and gave many praises!), I knew I had to read them. Best decision I made !

  35. Karen McCratic says:

OH MY GRAVY!!! That is some titillating news!! LOVE IT! You do a great job.

  36. Bob Mador says:

    Yay Kevin!

I’m super stoked that you will be writing 6 more books, not so happy that only 3 more Iron Druid, oh well… I guess all good things must come to an end.

    Congrats!

  37. KIM ABBS says:

what a thrill! so happy for you and the success that you deserve!!

  38. Tash Hennig says:

  39. Ellen says:

Wonderful. It’s an early Christmas. You deserve all this success and we deserve more of your work.

  40. Candace says:

That is the best news EVER! I’m SO excited! I posted my review of Trapped today and convinced several more that they must get busy reading these books NOW!
And hardcover!!!! I actually like them all in paperback so they all will match in size and whatnot, but I know that’s a good thing for you and I will most definitely be buying them all!
    Congratulations!!!!

  41. Glenda says:

CONGRATULATIONS!!! BEST NEWS EVER!!! I wish the Iron Druid would go on and on and on into infinity!!! You are a remarkable writer and even better human being (smile). I will buy anything you write! Great job!! Well done!!!

  42. AgaveGal says:

Well deserved, Mr. Hearne! I happened on your books while doing a Kindle search not long after book 1 came out and I was hooked…been recommending you to friends and family ever since. A very refreshing look at the “paranormal/fantasy” genre, that’s been dominated by vampires (sparkly or not) and witches. It’s about time we Irish folk got some story time! Lots of fun mythos in that part of the world. And nice to know a fellow Arizonan is doing well. :) Maybe someday I’ll get to meet you at the Poisoned Pen!

  43. Paul says:

Congrats! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. :)

  44. sean says:

    // excitement /happiness/ harmony//

  45. Carla L says:

I could not be happier for you and me. But mostly me because I get to read more about my favorite characters. I always purchase the books on my nook as well as a paperback copy. Strange I know, but its a habit now and I don’t plan on breaking it. So now I will have hardback copies. :)

  46. Michael_1015 says:

This is kickass news indeed, congrats. Three more IDC books makes me as happy as knowing there are 9ish Dresden Files books left. That means i’ll be reading books till I’m damn near 50. BTW, TRAPPED was nothing shy of anwsome.

  47. Scott says:

Will the e-books be released @ the same time as the hard covers?

  48. Ricardo says:

Congratulations Kevin! This is truely fantastic news all around. I’ll be looking forward to all of your upcoming works, both on paper and audio. :)

  49. Nora says:

I am so very happy to be a fan of yours and really enjoy the books and characters. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait for more. Thank you!

  50. This is truly fantastic, Kevin! Del Rey has seen your success and is supportive enough to start releasing in hardcover, which means more readers will find you! This has really elevated your already-great career. Congrats!

  51. Qwill says:

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So thrilled for you! I’m looking forward to reading all of your upcoming novels and short stories!

  52. Bret says:

Awesome news!!! a series can wear itself out but i just cant get enough IDC, so sad to hear it will end, but im really looking forward to whatever new stuff you do.

  53. Regis from Charlotte says:

Exciting news, Kevin! I never doubted Del Rey would go for the rest of the Iron druid Chronicles. Hardbacks though? And buying the next books, too? That’s fantastic! Congratulations on everything. Here’s to hitting the NY Times list with each book to come.

  54. Rebecca says:

Oh how fantastic – I had better go buy the latest book, I put it off, trying to get through Game Of Throne. Your books are such great reads

  55. Gavin Tuohy says:

Congrats Kevin. Your work has caused me some serious sleep deprivation but Gravy none the less!! Can’t wait for the next instalment. Keep up the good work big fella!!

  56. Congrats on the NYT and the graduation to hardcover. So, when do we get the Subterranean Press Limited Edition Hardcovers of the first six?

  57. Brian of the Great White North says:

Kevin, I raise my beer to you in a solemn salute! May your ink runneth over! Cheers to you and to more IDC.
