Go back to sixth-century Wales and learn how Atticus O’Sullivan became the Iron Druid in this novelette of the New York Times bestselling series, the Iron Druid Chronicles.
Traveling under the name of Gawain rather than his old Irish name, Atticus must recover the stolen grail—which is in truth Dagda’s cauldron—from a necromancer who has blighted the land around modern-day Swansea. This adventure, and others to follow, unintentionally inspires medieval romances about the Holy Grail centuries later, and eventually gets Atticus (as Gawain) included in stories of King Arthur’s court.
Fans of medieval literature and grail legends will love this every bit as much as fans of the Iron Druid Chronicles.
(Tough to know where to place this story in the chronology of the series because it’s a frame story. The bulk of it is Atticus recounting his shenanigans back in the Dark Ages, but he’s telling it all to Granuaile and Oberon in between the books TRICKED and TRAPPED. I think it works as either an intro to the series or as a fun lore drop in the middle of it—you decide!)
